Farm Days Recap

"Farm Days" at Creek Bend Farm

Hay rides. Sack races. Fresh apple cider tastings. Pick your own pumpkin.
These were some of the highlights of "Farm Days" at Creek Bend Farm on Sunday.
This is one of our county's newer nature preserves, which highlights are;
the scenic creek, hiking trails, farm animals, 2 barns, and a chic, contemporary nature center.

Although the forecast called for some rain, that didn't stop visitors from coming.
Our family landed at the Wilson Nature Center first to stay dry.
Of course, we had to stop and pet Nibbles the bunny, who seems to be a celebrity around there.
We also had to stop at all of the tanks; turtle, bluegill, snakes...

Volunteers were also showing kids how to manually drill wood, hand grind corn meal, and shell corn.
All of these operations were safe and easy to use, even for a preschooler.

Once the rain cleared up, it was safe to visit the goats, ducks, calf, and chickens.
Along the path were other activities like tossing games, and a sack race.
Participants recieved candy or other prizes.

The lively and helpful volunteers encouraged us to go see what was in the barn.
There were samples of fresh apple cider, more games, and vendors were selling fresh honey and kettle corn.
(Craft venders were also selling inside of the Wilson Nature Center).

Our last stop was to pick a free pumpkin straight from the patch. Volunteers were helping to cut them from the vines
and even helped load them into our car.

That wasn't all though. Because of the rain, hayrides seemed to be at a halt. But that didn't stop our 3 little boys from
checking out and sitting on the old tractors. Other old farm equipment was on display also.

Our family was so glad that we were able to enjoy "Farm Days," even on a rainy day. There was so much to do and see.
And the whole family had a blast!

Thank you to everyone who put this together!
