When Edgar Allan Poe died mysteriously in 1849 at the age of 40, he left behind more than 75 stories and poems, along with a reputation as a struggling writer. He likely felt his efforts were in vain—but he couldn’t have been more wrong! Over time, Poe has become a literary legend, his name forever linked to mystery, macabre, and the spirit of Halloween. His works have inspired countless books, films, documentaries, public readings, and, of course, conspiracy theories about his eerie and untimely death.

Now, you can experience the chilling world of Poe firsthand! Join us for a night of spine-tingling fun at the historic Strand Theater in Downtown Fremont. Enjoy a delicious dinner and an engaging presentation by Historical Interpreter Kent McClary, who will delve into Poe’s fascinating life, his haunting works, and the mysteries surrounding his legacy. Hear dramatic readings of his most famous horror stories and poetry, bringing his dark imagination to life.

And beware—legend has it that Poe himself sometimes makes an appearance. If you notice an empty chair on stage, don’t be alarmed. It just might be reserved for a very special guest!

Don’t miss this unforgettable evening of history, horror, and Halloween spirit. Whether you’re a lifelong Poe fan or just love a good ghost story, this event is sure to send shivers down your spine. Join us… if you dare!
